“Follow Workplace Hygiene Procedures”
Course Overview:
The Follow Workplace Hygiene Procedures qualification is a
unit of competency (SITXOHS002A) from the SIT07 - Tourism, Hospitality
and Events Training Package.
Each State has different requirements for Follow Workplace Hygiene Procedures training – in some States / Territories it is mandatory, whilst some have no requirement for the training at
all. It is imperative that anyone seeking employment in the food industry check with the Licensing Body for the relevant State/Territory
they intend to work in.
The following information quoted straight from the Food Act 2006, clearly explains the Queensland legislation regarding food industry training:
- In Queensland,
a licensee must, within 30 days after the licence is issued under section
60(1), have a food safety supervisor for the food business under the
licence. (Food Act, Part 7, Division 2, Section 86 (1))
- The licensee
must ensure a food safety supervisor for the food business under the
licence is reasonably available to be contacted by persons who handle food
in the food business while the food business is being carried on. (Food
Act, Part 7, Division 2, Section 87 (1))
- A licensee
must, within 30 days after the licence is issued under section 60(1),
advise the local government that issued the licence of the name and
contact details of each food safety supervisor for the food business under
the licence. (Food Act, Part 7, Division 2, Section 88 (1))
A Statement of Attainment will be issued on
completion of the training and submission of compliant
documentation.
